The price of a pound of bread has gone up by Rs 5 in Bengaluru in recent weeks on the back of multiple reasons, including long-drawn Ukraine-Russia conflict, rising input cost and scarcity of workers, reports Sanika Athavale. Wholesale prices of wheat flour have gone up 37% in six months. What was being sold at Rs 24 per kg now costs Rs 32.80, pressuring bakers and bread manufacturers to increase their product prices.
