Baby born without anal opening gets a new lease of life in Karnataka's Hosur Bangalore News: Latest Bangalore News Headlines & Live News Updates from Bangalore - Times of India

When a baby was born at a primary healthcare centre in Hosur recently, the doctor noted that it had no anal opening (to pass motion). The child was otherwise healthy and weighed 2.3kg. The condition is known as imperforate anus (absent anal opening). "In such babies, the abdomen starts getting distended with gas. When the baby cries, the gas distends the abdomen further and it could result in perforation," said Dr Mukunda Ramachandra, paediatric urologist at Rainbow Children's Hospital, Bannerghatta Road, where the child was referred.
