Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar of Bengaluru has criticized the call for a day-long bandh, or strike, by pro-farmer and pro-Kannada groups over the sharing of Cauvery water with Tamil Nadu. He emphasized the importance of safeguarding the interests of farmers and the city, warning that damaging "Brand Bengaluru" would be detrimental to all. The Bruhat Bengaluru Hoteliers Association and the Sandalwood Producers' Association have expressed support for the strike, while the Private Transport Operators' Federation and the KSRTC Staff and Workers' Federation have announced their services will not operate on the strike day. Pro-Kannada activists have also attempted to close the border between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu at the Attibele check post, leading to protests and disruptions in traffic.
