Senior MLA and president of All India Veerashaiva Lingayat Mahasabha, Shamanur Shivashankarappa, has expressed his support for a Lingayat chief minister in Karnataka. He claims that the Lingayat community is unhappy under the rule of current chief minister Siddaramaiah and that Lingayat officers are not considered for prominent posts. Shivashankarappa believes that a Lingayat chief minister would be in the best interest of the community.
