The government of Karnataka plans to leverage new and proposed airports in the state to boost its tourism sector. Five tourism circuits will be established, including circuits for south Karnataka, north Karnataka, the coast, Kalyana Karnataka, and Kittur Karnataka. The new airports will provide better connectivity to heritage and religious sites, and will help establish new routes for domestic and international tourists.
