A bandh was called by farmer groups in Mandya to protest against the release of Cauvery river water to Tamil Nadu. The bandh was largely peaceful and successful, with shops, commercial establishments, private buses, and autorickshaws remaining closed. Activists of various Kannada organizations and farmer bodies staged demonstrations, while students from different colleges formed a human chain in support. The protesters demanded the immediate halt of water release and threatened to escalate their agitation if their demands were not met.
