The state government of Karnataka has launched two new methods of birth control as part of the National Family Planning Programme. The first is a single rod subdermal implant that will be available in Bengaluru and Bidar districts, while the second is a subcutaneous injectable contraceptive that will be introduced in Yadgir and Mysuru districts. These contraceptives aim to prevent maternal and infant health issues and can be used by breastfeeding or unmarried women. The subdermal implant is effective for up to three years, while the injectable contraceptive lasts for three months.
