Deputy CM DK Shivakumar has suggested renaming Ramanagara district as 'Bengaluru South' and bringing Kanakapura taluk under Bengaluru Urban. He stated that this move is in response to the wishes of the people in the district who want to be a part of Bengaluru's development. CM Siddaramaiah did not comment on the suggestion, while CM HD Kumaraswamy accused Shivakumar of attempting to regularize his "illegal deals" through the new district map.
