The Indian government's Gruha Lakshmi scheme, which provides monthly payments to women heads of families, is facing setbacks due to technical glitches and red tapeism. Around 10 lakh women who registered for the scheme since August and 36 lakh women since September have yet to receive benefits. The primary reason for the glitches is the non-seeding of Aadhaar cards, name mismatches, and frozen accounts. The payment process is also convoluted, with bills needing clearance from the RBI before funds can be transferred. The government plans to generate all bills at the head office to speed up the process.
