The Karnataka government has announced the formation of a leopard task force (LTF) to address the increasing sightings of leopards in human settlements on the outskirts of Bengaluru. The 35-member LTF, which will operate under the Karnataka forest department, will be equipped with necessary tools and equipment such as tranquilising guns, night-vision equipment, and drones. The task force will conduct drills to raise awareness about wildlife emergencies and will work in collaboration with local residents' associations. The estimated cost of setting up the LTF is around Rs 35 lakh.
