A preliminary investigation by Bescom has revealed that rats were the cause behind the electrocution of a woman and her nine-month-old daughter in Bengaluru. The presence of rodents at a nearby transformer site resulted in the tripping of the feeder line, while lack of earthing for the snapped transmission wire led to the electrocution. Five Bescom officials have been arrested in connection with the incident and have attributed it to a technical glitch in the power transmission system.
