One in three students in Karnataka, aged 16-18, were found to be anaemic during a state-wide screening initiative. Over 9.1 lakh students have been tested, with 3.1 lakh identified as anaemic. Severe cases received immediate treatment, including iron sucrose injections and blood transfusions. The high prevalence of anaemia is attributed to poor nutrition, with junk food consumption and inadequate meals being major factors.
