Miffed senior state MLAs get new role with cabinet rank Bangalore News: Latest Bangalore News Headlines & Live News Updates from Bangalore - Times of India

In a bid to buy peace with disgruntled MLAs, chief minister Siddaramaiah appointed senior MLAs RV Deshpande, Basavaraj Rayareddy, and BR Patil to cabinet-rank positions. Deshpande is now chairman of the administrative reforms commission, Rayareddy is the economic adviser to the CM, and Patil is a general adviser. This move will cost the state government around Rs 15 lakh per month. The MLAs were unhappy about not being made ministers and had raised concerns about the style of functioning of some ministers and the non-release of funds for constituency development. Patil had even written a letter to Siddaramaiah signed by 11 Congress MLAs, expressing objections to the conduct of certain ministers.
