The Dharwad bench of the high court has ordered the North West Karnataka Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) to pay Rs 17 lakh in compensation to the family of a man who died in a bus accident. The court held that the driver and conductor of the bus had failed to fulfill their duties under the Motor Vehicles Act. The victim suffered fatal injuries when he fell due to a malfunctioning pneumatic door.
